Vegans, to paraphrase Robert Frost, take the path less traveled by.
So I found the name of this new brand Off the Eaten Path completely appropriate.
I tried the Veggie Crisps and am pleased to report that they are my new favorite snack. I have tended to avoid rice crisps in the past, largely because I found them devoid of flavor. Like gulping air.
But not these snacks. The mix of black beans and peas given them a rich, salty flavor.

What I also appreciate about these snacks is an ingredient list that I can mostly understand:
Ingredients: Rice Flour, Sunflower Oil, Dried Green Peas, Dried Yellow Peas, Dried Black Beans, Sea Salt, and Mixed Tocopherols (Antioxidant).
As for the Tocopherols ingredient, the company tells me that “Mixed Tocopherols (E vitamins) are added to preserve freshness and flavor.” Which means no animal or dairy products are used.
Like any great snack, these little things are addictive. But unlike most snacks, I actually feel somewhat healthy eating them.

It’s safe to say I will be getting more of these little rice crackers.
