More Violife varieties are beginning to appear in our local shops, and it’s so exciting to try them. The newest we’ve found is the “just like feta” variety.
This variety is coconut-oil based, which explains its rich, creamy texture. It doesn’t crumble easily like “real” feta, nor does it have the same sharp and tangy flavor (it’s been a very long time, but I do remember feta that way). This feta is more plain in flavor, but the texture is very nice, and it’s savory enough to be quite delicious in salads.
Given the lack of vegan feta out there, I was happy to try this and would use it again whenever a salad or recipe calls for feta.
