Daring Bowl: A plant-based chicken delivery system

We’re big fans of Daring as you can read here.

We’ve tried them all; the cajun chicken is our favorite.

So when I saw these ready-made Daring bowls on sale I couldn’t help myself.

Now, I should caveat this review with an acknowledgement that I’ve yet to microwave a frozen bowl of anything that I’ve truly loved. First, off there’s the plastic bowl and the wrapper I never can seem to fully remove. And, maybe it’s just me, but there never seems to be that much in the bowl — the photo on the box always leads to a bit of a let down afterwards.

That said, I found the Daring bowl to be much tastier than most bowls. There was a nice spice to it and plenty of the chicken pieces that I so love (though the peppers were a bit few and far between). In the end, you get this bowl because of the chicken.

Here’s what it looks like post-microwave. I could have placed it in a fancy bowl for the photo but I suspect most folks who subsist on microwaved bowls eat them sans china. And I really did try to remove the plastic wrapping.

In a perfect world, I would buy Daring chicken by itself and go to the Coop to fetch a few peppers and torts and cook up some fajitas from scratch. That’s the dream at least.

But our world is not perfect and time is limited and this bowl certainly does the trick if you’ve only got a few minutes to grab a bite. Also, if you’re got to feed others — particularly those who only want REAL MEAT for dinner — slide one of these bowls in front of them and they’ll be none the wiser. Odds are they’ll ask for more.
