We were thrilled to find the vegan cafe Origin in the middle of the gorgeous village of Strasbourg, which has several other vegan and vegan-friendly restaurants — but we were in the mood for pastries and sweets, and this all-vegan patisserie did not disappoint.

Origin does have yummy-looking veggie sandwiches, as well as a lovely supply of croissants, but we went all in on the sweets.

The chocolate croissants were amazing, as was the cream-cheese-and-strawberry croissant. Not pictured: the cookies and brownies we took with us (which did not last very long; they were amazing). One of our favorites was an oddly shaped pastry that turned out to be cornflakes drenched in chocolate and shaped into little mounds. Not only was it delicious but it’s something we can make at home, and we can’t wait to try it.

We love the signage, from the the 100% vegan proclamation on the sandwich board out front to the “vegan milk only” sign above the drinks menu.

Whenever you are fortunate enough to find yourself in Strasbourg, don’t miss this little gem. It was fun to see it fill up while we were there, with tourists and locals alike.
