Vegan dining in St. Lucia

While on a fabulous Caribbean voyage with Vegan Travel, we discovered this amazing little all-vegan gem: ALOR Vegan Cafe (thanks to our new friends who explored St. Lucia with us and found this lovely place via Happy Cow).

There were so many options, too many to choose from — and we did have lunch waiting back on board. But everything was too inviting not to try a few things. We sampled one of the delicious homemade muffins, which was dense and tasty and felt quite healthy; it wasn’t overly sweet but just right.

If the prices look high, it’s because they are in East Caribbean (EC) dollars (one U.S. dollar is about 2.7 EC dollars). So, a full meal is only about $11 U.S. dollars, which is a wonderful deal. And the people are lovely — it was so fun to chat with them about vegan life and good vegan food.

The drinks were also terrific, from the local beer (you can’t go wrong with local beers in the Caribbean) to the homemade sea moss mocha and the sorrel drink, which were both delicious (and also super healthy).

The cafe is tiny, with picnic tables for outdoor dining (in the Caribbean, you wouldn’t want it any other way). Our friends ordered a variety of items, and their review was excellent.

Don’t miss this gem if you’re in St. Lucia, even if it’s only for snacks and drinks. It’s worth a visit!
