While there are currently no all-vegan restaurants in the town of Nasca, Peru (there used to be one that apparently closed during the pandemic), it was easy enough to find vegan options at the local restaurants we visited — and one in particular impressed us with its sizeable vegetarian/vegan menu. Mamashana was also the only restaurant we saw that used the word “vegan” rather than just “vegetarian” — and on its menu is the protein content of various veggies! That was especially fun to see.

Another fun bonus was getting chulpis to snack on while we waited; these corn snacks were freshly fried and salted and were absolutely delicious.
We sampled a couple of dishes: a vegan burger and a quinoa stir fry (ordered without the egg). Both were great … the burger arrived with half an avocado on top, and the quinoa dish was so big we had to take much of it with us.

They didn’t have a vegan dessert list — not that we had room — and overall this was a great vegan experience in a non-vegan restaurant, and the place was airy and lovely to dine in.
